Patti LaBelle is an American soul singer who has cultivated a classic catalog over her decades-long career. Getting her start as the lead vocalist of Patti LaBelle and the Bluesbelles, she embarked on a solo career in 1977 and introduced herself to the world with her self-titled debut album. Capturing the full spectrum of her vocals, the record garnered critical adulation and catapulted LaBelle onto the world stage. Releasing massive hits over the years, such as 1982's "If Only You Knew," and 1989's "If You Asked Me To," she finally earned her first of several Grammys in 1992 for her LP Burnin'. Leading with her powerhouse R&B vocals and virtually ignoring popular music trends, LaBelle has managed to traverse the entertainment landscape as a musical icon for over half a century.
