Often referred to as the "King of Hungarian Blues" or simply just the "Captain", Deák Bill Gyula is an exceptional musician and artist with a distinct voice. In 1986, he held a joint concert in Budapest with Chuck Berry, who said Gyula was the Hungarian singer with the "blackest" voice. He lost one of his legs when he was 11 years old, and walking with crutches has become one of his trademark traits. Gyula is an actor as well; he played the figure of Torda in the rock opera, "István, a király."
