Tempe, Arizona pop band The Maine formed in 2007 while the members were still in high school. Quickly launching a major label career after two short EPs, The Maine released its July 2010 album Black & White on Warner Bros. The Maine's lyrics speak to their hometown of Tempe and various personal experiences growing up there. More autobiographical than most pop rock bands, The Maine frequently sings about relationships, most of them fraught with tension and disappointment. Alternative Press Magazine's 2010 reader's poll named The Maine its favorite band of 2010.
