John Anderson is a country music artist from Apopka, Florida, who got his start in rock n' roll before discovering the music of George Jones and Merle Haggard. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in the early 1970s, taking odd jobs during the day so he could play his music at night clubs, and finally he garnered enough attention to be noticed by Warner Bros. Records, who signed him in 1977. Anderson released his eponymous debut album in 1980 and found a mainstream audience in 1982 with his fourth studio album, Wild & Blue. He parted ways with Warner Bros. in 1986, after six years and eight LPs, but continued to release an impressive stream of albums into the 1990s, including his most commercially lucrative record, 1992's Seminole Wind. Though his widespread attention has faded into the 21st century, Anderson has maintained a dedicated fan base among country music audiences and continues to perform and release new material.
