W. Kamau Bell is a stand-up comedian and actor who rose to recognition in the San Francisco Bay Area's crowded comedy scene during the late 2000s. With a sharp political mind, he founded the collective known as Laughter Against the Machine, earning attention from comedy audiences and social activists alike. Quickly making his way to the national stage, he landed his own FX television series in 2012, titled Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, on which he, along with the help of producer Chris Rock, approaches social issues of racism and classism with an unrelenting critical eye. While maintaining his status as an international performer with appearances at the world's largest comedy festivals, Kamau continues to foster San Francisco's communities with his SF Weekly-published blog Kamau Komedy Korner and as a member of the board of The Applied Research Center.
