Richard Shindell is a singer/songwriter and musician from New York who is known for his narrative songwriting style. He released his debut solo album Sparrows Point, in 1992 but got his first break in 1997 when Joan Baez invited him to join her on tour after she recorded three of his songs. He went on to collaborated with Dar Williams and Lucy Kaplansky to form Cry Cry Cry, and released the project's eponymous cover album in 1998. Shindell released his ninth studio album 13 Songs You May Or May Not Have Heard Before, in 2011.
