The Deventer Boekenmarkt, or Book Fair, is one of the largest gatherings of bibliophiles in the world. Held annually in the quiant little town of Deventer, the Boekenmarkt features masses of booksellers, printers, literati and their wares. There are discussions of literature, crafts, food and snacks, and of course more books than one could read in a hundred human lifetimes. Though many of the books on offer are of naturally in Dutch, there are also copious selections of books in English, French, German, Spanish and other languages as well. This is a fun event for children, families and lovers of culture and literature of all stripes.
