Now over a quarter of a century into its career, NOFX remains one of punk rock's most reliable and popular bands. The group formed in 1983, building a reputation around Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area as a melodic hardcore outfit with an irreverent sense of humor. When the slightly poppier brand of skate punk led by groups such as The Vandals, Bad Religion and Lagwagon flirted with the mainstream in the mid-1990s, NOFX was right there beneath the surface, amassing legions of young new fans via its popular albums and heavy involvement with the Vans Warped Tour. The band's tried-and-true mix of breakneck rhythms, frat boy humor and hook-filled songwriting has turned records such as Punk in Drublic and White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean into now classic entry points for anyone interested in hearing the essence of the brattier, more melodic side of 1990s punk. NOFX has dabbled in political songwriting over the years and continues to tour and record regularly with its long-running four member lineup.
