Penned by Frank Wedekind, Frühlings Erwachen premiered in 1906. The play explores controversial subjects like sexuality, homosexuality, suicide, puberty, rape, abortion and abuse. It focuses on a group of teenagers struggling to come to terms with their sexuality and their changing bodies. The play first ran at Berlin's Deutsches Theater and has been produced and adapted several times all over the world ever since.
