Rabih Abou Khalil is a composer and oud player from Beirut, Lebanon whose tremendous skill on the Middle Eastern stringed instrument has shuttled the musician into the world music limelight. In addition to his contributions to exposing listeners throughout the world to the oud, Khalil's compositions also attempt to reach a global audience by combining elements of Arab music with jazz, rock, classical and other examples of music heard throughout the world. With over 20 recordings made since his debut album Compositions & Improvisations in 1981, Rabih Abou Khalil is considered by many familiar with his work to be one of the more innovative world musicians performing today.
