Dool was formed by some of the Netherland's most famous rock musicians - Ryanne van Dorst, Nick Polak, Reinier Vermeulen, and The Devil's Blood alums Job van de Zande and Micha Haring. The band first garnered the attention of the public at its 2016 Roadburn Festival performance, post which it signed with Prophecy Productions. Its debut album Here Now, There Then, released in 2017, charted at number 46 on German charts and won the title of the 'Best Debut Album' at the Metal Hammer Awards. The album was followed by the EP Love Like Blood, released in 2019. Vermeulen parted ways with the band soon after and was replaced by Omar Iskandr. Dool has played at many big-name festivals such as the MetalDays, Graspop Metal Meeting, Wacken Open Air, Rock Hard Festival and more. It experiments with genres ranging from progressive rock and doom metal to gothic rock, with elements reminiscent of the music of the likes of Alice in Chains, Nirvana and Pearl Jam.
