Hailing from Illinois, Suzy Bogguss a country music singer/songwriter who got her start performing music at the age of five in her church's choir. After making the rounds of her town's club circuit several times she embarked on a tour of the US to promote her self-released album, Suzy, in 1980. Bogguss relocated to Nashville and worked as a demo singer until she finally earned a contract with Liberty Capitol label. She released her Somewhere Between, in 1989, blending traditional and modern country music styles together. The combination earned her critical acclaim and she was subsequently named the Academy of Country Music's Top New Female Vocalist. Despite her early success, she took a brief hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider. Upon her return the music industry, she lost her commercial appeal and turned to independent labels to release her songs. Bogguss continues to record and perform around the country to her loyal, close-knitt following.
