Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (also known simply as OMD) is a synthpop band from Wirral Peninsula, England, that rose to fame in the UK with the release of its second album, Organisation, which spawned the 1980 hit single "Enola Gay." The band would later gain popularity in the US with the hit song "If You Leave," written in 1985 for the popular film Pretty In Pink. Following a breakup of the group in 1996, OMD reformed in 2006 and began recording and performing once more with its classic lineup. Considered to be one of the more seminal bands from the 1980s, OMD's return to the stage is not only a great thing for lovers of the group's 1980s music, but also for those curious as to where the band's music might go in the 21st century.
