Jenny Lewis is a singer/songwriter and musician from Southern California who rose to recognition during the 2000s as the primary vocalist of the indie rock band Rilo Kiley. She first ventured into a solo career in 2004, when Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes invited her to record a solo effort with the Team Love imprint. The resulting record, 2006's Rabbit Fur Coat, featuring contributions from renowned modern folk artists such as M. Ward, Ben Gibbard and Oberst himself, earned Lewis widespread attention in all realms of indie music, proving she could stand alone as an ardent front-woman of her own project. She subsequently toured with The Watson Twins, who act as her backing band, and went on to record and perform with her boyfriend Johnathan Rice, under the moniker Jenny and Johnny.
