The best cover bands are the ones who don't just go through the motions, but rather turn the source material on its head almost to the point of nonrecognition. Sweden's Hellsongs is obviously up to the task, turning metal and hard rock classics from the likes of Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath and Guns N' Roses into earnest little pop ditties full of piano, horns and sugary female vocals. As kitschy as it sounds, the songs are actually strong enough to be enjoyed for more than just novelty's sake.
