William Prince, a native of Peguis First Nation, is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter. The son of a preacher, Prince grew up listening to varying styles of music of the likes of Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. He decided to pursue a career in music while still in college and collaborated with artists like Vince Fontaine and Don Amero of the band Indian City. He spent almost a decade in the industry before his debut album, 2015's highly successful Earthly Days, brought him recognition. Not only did the album become a commercial success but it also earned Prince several awards such as the Western Canadian Music Award, Canadian Folk Music Award and Juno Award in 2016. His second album Reliever, released in early 2020, featured tracks like "The Gun," "Great Wide Open" and "The Spark."
