Boombox is the duo of beat-maker Russ Randolf and guitarist/singer Zion Rock Godchaux. When playing live the pair will often jam out on segments of a tune and work extremely hard to make it seem as though the set is just endlessly flowing from song to song--the band calls this process putting on a "longball" show. Visions of Backbeat, the group's debut record, was released in 2005 and is full of psychedelic disco melodies that are accompanied at live performances by light shows and live painters.
