Born and raised in Missouri, David Nail was presented with several offers to play baseball in college but chose to turn them down in the hopes of pursuing a music career. He moved to Nashville to explore his love of county music and was signed to MCA Nashville in 2002, when he released his self-titled debut album. Nail's music is very reflective of contemporary country styles, with lap-steel acoustic ballads as well as more uptempo, rock and roll-influenced tracks populating his albums. On his 2007 album, I'm About to Come Alive, Nail branched out to work some big names in the country music world, including Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts.
