Based on E. M. Forster's novel of the same name, A Room With a View is a musical production that tells the story of a young English woman named Lucy Honeychurch, whose tale begins while abroad in Italy. Although she is relentlessly pursued by a wealthy Londoner named Cecil Vyse, she becomes intrigued with a commoner named George Emerson, who is staying at the same hotel in Florence. As the pair continue to grow closer, Lucy struggles with her feelings towards him, partly because of the pressure she feels from her conservative chaperone. When George kisses Lucy in a moment of passion, she departs for Rome and eventually returns home to Surrey, where her life returns to its original course until George moves to her town and her story again unfolds into an unexpected romance and overall critique of the class-driven society of early 19th century England.
