This year, the Cité Royale de Loches explores the theme of the "traveling king". The itinerancy of the French king and his court can be observed throughout the Middle Ages, from the 12th century to the end of the Middle Ages. The sovereign was highly mobile, and his nomadism was a response to the need to be present, in particular to assert his power in his domain and beyond, but also for economic, military or religious reasons.
