Super League: Wigan Warriors Vs. Warrington Wolves
Representing Warrington, Cheshire, Warrington Wolves is a rugby league club that features in the Super League. Also known as “The Wire” and “The Wolves”, the club has played its home games at the Halliwell Jones Stadium since 2004, when they relocated there from the Wilderspool Stadium. Formed in 1876, it is one of the oldest rugby league clubs and claims to be the only club to have never been relegated from British top-flight rugby. The club shares a very fierce rivalry with the Widnes Vikings and this fixture is commonly known as the “Cheshire Derby”. Despite being very successful in the Challenge Cup with nine titles to their name, the Wolves are hungry for the Super League crown, a trophy that has eluded them since their last triumph in 1955. Notable players to have represented this team include Brian Bevan, Mike Gregory and Derek Whitehead who have all been inducted in the Hall of Fame.
