Katie Melua is a British singer who grew up in Georgia. In 1999, she made her first public appearance on a comedic talent show, Stars Up Their Nose. Her first album was released five years later when Melua was 19 and her bluesy jazz immediately topped the British charts. Her international success followed shortly thereafter, when she sang a duet with performer Jamie Cullum. Melua is always a surprise; she has even played under the sea--and yes, she's in the Guinness Book of World Records for it.
