Founded in 2000, the franchise has been affiliated with various NHL teams since its inception, including the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Anaheim Ducks. The team has managed to build an impressive reputation for itself, which climaxed in the 2011-2012 season when the Admirals won the league's highest honor, the Calder Cup.
