Croatian football club NK Osijek was formed under the name Proleter in 1947 as the result of a merger between Slavonija and Bratstvo. Based in Osijek, Eastern Croatia, it first entered the first division in 1953 before being relegated to the second league. The club adopted the name NK Osijek in 1967 following a rebranding. It rose to become one of the best football clubs in the history of the sport in Croatia and played one of its best seasons in 1994. A prolific team, Osijek has been the winner of multiple Yugoslav Second League titles and the Croatian Cup. It plays its home games at the Stadion Gradski vrt.
