Seth Lakeman is an English singer/songwriter known for his impressive violin playing and his well-constructed folk songs. Alongside his two siblings, Lakeman began performing music in the UK as part of The Lakeman Brothers in the early 1990s. Though the group experienced a rather successful career, Lakeman eventually decided to branch off on his own around 2002. His resulting brand of traditional English folk music infused with uptempo rock and roll and plenty of porch-stomping fiddle solos was a hit throughout the UK, earning a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize in 2005. In addition to his violin playing, Lakeman regularly incorporates guitar, banjo and viola into his fun and high-energy songwriting.
