Sophocles's Antigone is an indispensable work of classic Greek tragedy, written circa 441 BC, during a time of great Grecian upheaval. The play is the last installment in the three-part Theban plays, which dramatizes a mythological curse for the stage. Antigone's eponymous protagonist insists, against King Creon's orders, on performing burial rights on her deceased brother.
