Located on the ancestral lands of the S’Klallam peoples, Port Townsend rose to prominence in the late 19th century as one of the busiest seaports on the West Coast—teeming with sailors and immigrants and dotted with mercantiles, saloons, factories, hotels, and brothels. Drawing from some of the more infamous, mysterious, and salacious stories in Port Townsend’s history, this tour through the picturesque downtown district will offer participants a glimpse into how documents, photos, physical evidence, and stories passed down all play into how we discern fact from fiction.Notes:This is a private tour. The flat rate is $240, for a minimum of two people, and up to twelve people. The tour will start outside of the Jefferson Museum of Art & History (located at 540 Water St. in downtown Port Townsend). The tour will be approximately 0.75 miles of walking/standing throughout the downtown historic district; it is mostly flat terrain except for one gradual incline and is ADA accessible. There is some public seating available for four of the stops, though it is first-come, first-served.Please refer to confirmation email for more details.
