Donovan Philips Leitch, who performs and releases music as Donovan, is a Scottish singer/songwriter and guitarist who has defined himself as an innovative and eclectic musician since emerging in the 1960s. Initially interested in folk music, Donovan began playing guitar at age 14 and built his musical chops by dropping out of school to travel, play shows and live out his bohemian aspirations. After becoming an underground sensation on the London club circuit, Donovan's profile began to rise as he started releasing forward-thinking albums, beginning in 1965 with his debut LP What's Bin Did and What's Bin Hid. Having remained well respected over his decades long career, Donovan has managed to avoid becoming artistically stagnant by incorporating a number of varied genres including calypso, jazz and psychedelia into his already heady style of music.
