Classically trained pianist Hiromi Uehara was introduced to jazz music at the age of eight. Despite her young age, Hiromi grasped her natural musical inclination and by the time she was 17, she'd played shows with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and was personally invited by legendary pianist Cick Corea to join him on stage during one of his shows. She attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where her mentor, American jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal, helped her refine her jazz sensibility. Hiromi is now renowned for her outstanding technical prowess as well has her jazz fusion compositions that often blend genres between progressive rock, classical and post-bop music. She formed a trio with bassist Tony Grey and drummer Martin Valihora, called Hiromi's Trio, in 2004, and eventually added a guitarist to transform the trio into Kiromi's Sonicbloom, a progressive rock/jazz fusion band,
