Jo Koy is a Filipino-American stand-up comedian who got his start after performing in a number of different Las Vegas nightclubs in 1994. Born Joseph Glenn Herbert to mixed-race parents in 1971, he got his stage name from a nickname his parents gave him when he was younger, "Jokoy," which is colloquial Tagalog for "joker." After kicking around the Vegas comedy scene for most of the 1990s, Koy was noticed by a talent scout, who gave him his first television appearance on BET's Comic View.
