Starting on December 16th and running up to the 24th Las Posadas are processions that wind through the streets of cities throughout Mexico. They are led by a boy and girl depicting Mary and Joseph and stop at homes around town seeking shelter. Until they arrive at an agreed upon home each stop results in them being turned away. Finally at the agreed upon home they are given the shelter they seek.
