The Spokane Symphony is an orchestra based in Spokane, Washington that is considered to have a "long tradition as the largest and most active professional performing arts organization in the Inland Pacific Northwest." Since forming in 1945 as the Spokane Philharmonic, the Spokane Symphony, as it is now known, has grown to become a 70 piece orchestra touting over 150,000 listeners during each of its recent critically-acclaimed performance seasons. Led by famed German conductor Eckart Preu, the Spokane Symphony has entered the second decade of the 21st Century with aplomb, and despite relatively quaint size of its home city, the SSO has already risen to become an ensemble on par with some of the United States' largest and most renowned city orchestras.
