Bilal Sayeed Oliver is a singer/songwriter, musician and producer who is known simply as Bilal. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he relocated to New York City in the late 1990s and began to craft an inclusive dance hall sound with elements of neo soul, funk, jazz hip-hop and R&B. With only a demo in hand, he earned a contract with Interscope records and released his acclaimed debut album 1st Born Second, in 2001. Bilal attracted a diverse fan base with his live performances, which showcased his wide vocal range and classically trained falsetto; he continues to release genre-spanning records such as 2013's A Love Surreal.
