Howie Mandel is a stand-up comedian, actor and media personality from from Toronto, Canada who is perhaps best known these days as the host of NBC's hit game show Deal or No Deal. However, Mandel's career in the public spotlight spans decades, with his six-year run as Dr. Wayne Fiscus on the hit 1980s soap opera St. Elsewhere having catapulted the young actor into national stardom. Following this career-making role, Mandel would subordinate his stand-up career throughout much of the 1990s to pursue lucrative roles on television, particularly in voice-over work for animated shows. Following some years where his time in the comedy spotlight seemed to be coming to an end, Mandel was able to bounce back and successfully revive his career as a celebrated television personality and stand-up comedian.
