Germans love to celebrate with their beer and it’s not the feeble, straw-yellow lager they chug but the strong local brews. The Cannstatt Fair is one of the biggest beer festivals in the country, second only to Oktoberfest of Munich. Rooted in cultural traditions, tourists will observe unusual sights, such as a 24-meter-high column of fruit, decorated breweries and loaded country wagons. The parades and street parties are the liveliest with spontaneous camaraderie and joie de vivre that the locals share with all and sundry. The second Thursday of the fest features a fireworks show, which is a major attraction for kids and adults alike. Hundreds of show folk, curious attractions and rides to thrill accompany barrels of beer and loads of delicious Gallic eats. The Black Forest Experience Tent is one to be witnessed personally. Tourists are known to rave about it till the next fest! The festival grounds are located just across the street from the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle.
