Peter and the Wolf is a children's tale originally written with a score by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev in 1936. Prokofiev orchestrated the piece to be accompanied by spoken narration. It has since become a fixture of children's literature, evolving into storybook, play and balletic adaptations. The story tells of a brave young boy, Peter, who captures a wolf in his front yard, sparing its life from the hunters who wish to kill it, and parading through town with his captor. The imaginative tale has lasted for generations, a children's classic woven into the fabric of many cultures around the world.
