The Takacs Quartet is a classical string quartet that was founded by four students studying at the Music Academy in Budapest, Hungary in 1975. Going on to receive international attention in 1977 after the group won the Critics' Prize at the International String Quartet Competition in Évian-les-Bains, France, the group has since continued to make waves by pushing the boundaries of contemporary classical music.
