The Mayersche Buchhandlung has two branches in Cologne. The impressive new branch at Neumarkt-Galerie has around 500,000 books waiting to be read. The atmosphere is as busy as a beehive. Luckily there is an electronic info system to help you find the right section for what you are looking for and of course normal signs as well. On three floors you can find books relating to every thinkable subject. They are not quite as simply organized at across the square at Gonski . Here at the Mayersche Buchhandlung II lies an espresso bar on the ground floor and a stage for readings on the second floor. There are even photography exhibitions on the first floor. A huge reading area allows you to relax while shopping, and even better there are tables with reading lamps and sockets for you to plug your laptop into. International books in English,Fren ch, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish and Russian as well as English videos are available. Just as international and huge is the selection for newspapers and magazines on the ground floor.
