This impressive Renaissance Revival building stands smack in the middle of the Opera House Square, in Claremont's center. The Claremont Opera House doubles up as both an auditorium and a city hall for meetings, and was originally built between 1895 and 1897 by a New York based architect. When it first opened as a venue, it thrived with old-fashioned vaudeville shows and musicals, before it gained a place in the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It continues to host a variety of musicals and theatrical plays even today.
