Used as a royal abode, a museum, a field hospital and finally a hotel, Schloss Lübbenau's history is fascinating to say the least. This ivory castle with its red-shingled roof and sprawling castle grounds has been in existence since centuries, and happens to be the oldest part of the town today. Using Renaissance style of architecture, the towers in the castle's rear were built later on, after the main structure was in existence for a few years. During the early 20th Century, it served as a museum and armory and during World War 2, it was a hospital. Today the castle is an integral part of Lübbenau's tourist scene, with the stables and surrounding lake also used to full effect.
