Zingst is a uniquely placed city, between the Baltic Sea and the mainland, forming a lagoon of sorts. This semi-island and its surrounding woods are a great area for birds such as tawny owls, kites, martens and more. The seaside pier with crystal clear views of the turquoise waters for miles around makes it a popular resort town. Sandy beaches and boat cruises aside, the town includes cultural landmarks such as Peter Paul Church, Max Hünten House, the local history museum inside the Haus Morgensonne and more. Zingst was also the launching pad for several advanced rocket tests conducted in the 1990s, adding a nice bit of intrigue to this seaside town.
