Place Gutenberg

This is one of the main squares in Strasbourg, located right opposite the front of the cathedral. It bears the name of the inventor of printing, who arrived in Strasbourg around 1430 and created a workshop here. A statue in his image, which was unveiled in 1840, is also to be found in the eponymous square. The most remarkable building is the former town hall, which today accommodates the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie and which dates back to the Renaissance. The square is, above all, a strategic crossroads at the heart of the town centre. On Saturdays, a second-hand book fair livens things up.
