Located in the northern portion of Italy, Glorenza is a throwback to the medieval ages and seems untouched by the ravages of time. One of the smallest cities in the Alpine region, it has around 900 proud inhabitants. Glurns received its city charter from the Tyrolean prince Meinhard II at the end of the 13th Century. The city walls with crenelated towers enclosing a somewhat trapezoidal area have been well-preserved. Also, the arcades and old Tyrolean houses with corner oriels and painted facades are especially picturesque. The entire city area is protected as a historic district. Steeped in rich history with splendid sights, it is a dazzling spot for visiting in the Trentino-Alto Adige region.
