Brunswick

One of Lower Saxony's most financially powerful cities, Braunschweig sits on the northern slopes of the Harz Mountains and thus is spread along an elevation of 246 feet (75 meters). An influential city since the medieval ages, it was elected as the seat of the states of the Principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, the Duchy of Brunswick and the Free State of Brunswick. Braunschweig is believed to have been established in the 9th-century and is not only one of the region's oldest cities, but also one of the most well-preserved as well. Laden with captivating heritage structures, the city boasts of sights such as the Dankwarderode Castle, Brunswick Cathedral, and the Brunswick Lion.
