9980 Greenback Lane, Folsom, CA, United States, 95630
Built in 1895, the Folsom Powerhouse occupies the site of the eponymous state park which was founded in 1956 for preservation purposes. A prominent attraction in the area, the power station served as one of the main electricity suppliers in the city. One can take a closer look at the vintage generators that are still preserved in the park. Tours are organized here and visitors are offered the chance to observe the General Electric transformers, each having been capable of conducting 800 to 11,000 volts of electricity. Open five days a week, Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park is a great choice if you wish to immerse yourself in some local technical history or simply check out some fascinating electric machines.
