Maricopa Live Steamers was established in 1972 with a motive to showcase the heritage of railroading. Members of the Maricopa Live Steamers Railroad Heritage Preservation Society ensure upkeep and maintenance of the tracks and the steam engines while free rides are offered to visitors every Sunday between noon to 4:30p. Each ride lasts for about 30-40 minutes and is free, although donations are accepted. Workshops are held for kids as well as adults to teach them to operate and help in maintenance in case of a breakdown. They also host private and corporate events like birthday parties, reunions, etc. on Sundays between noon and 4p.
