Quenched by rivers Breg and Brigach, Donaueschingen is a quaint town cradled by The Black Forest. The town is also believed to be the place where the mighty Danube River originates. The circular pond with intricately carved baluster, Donauquelle, inside the Schloss Donaueschingen marks its origin. Apart from the karst spring, the town has attractions like the expansive Fürstlich Fürstenbergische Parkanlage while the beautiful Riedsee is a short drive away from the town's center. One of the world's oldest music festivals for western classical music, Donaueschingen Music Festival, is held every October.
