One of the earliest modern and contemporary art museums in Istanbul, Istanbul Modern attracts art buffs and tourists from far and wide. Due to the construction of its new building, Istanbul Modern has been temporarily shifted to Union Française, a historical building in Beyoğlu on the Asmalımescit Mahallesi. On display are abstract paintings, portraits, sculptures and photographs from local artists as well as public and private collections. Apart from that, the temporary location that houses Istanbul Modern also includes a library and a cafe.
