Built in the year 1977 and originally known as Meerdijk Stadion, De Oude Meerdijk got its current name only in the year 2018. Univé Stadion and Jens Vesting are some of the others names this stadium was known by between 2001 and 2017. Home to FC Emmen playing in the Eredivisie, De Oude Meerdijk is a haven for football fans in the city. This stadium has played host to international competitions like the Football World Youth Championship and CPISRA Football 7-a-side World Championship.
