Lying near the eastern side of the Black Forest, the town of Villingen-Schwenningen has a lot to offer its visitors. Once governed by Austrian authorities, the flourishing watchmaking industry transformed the face of this erstwhile village from 19th Century onwards. To know more about the history of the town, one can visit the Clock Museum, Franciscan Monastery Museum and also the International Aviation museum in the town. The Schwenningen Moos near the southwestern edge harbors Neckararsprung or the origins of the river Neckar. With abundance of nature and history, the town makes for a great day trip.
